Why is it that there are many gay-sympathizers?

everyone gets "persecuted" in their own opinion, and mostly the ones who cry persecution a lot are being mocked, EXCEPT gays. gays cry persecution as much as Christians do, and both groups "persecute" others who don't agree with them, so what's the difference? why can't people see these atrocities?
