Why didn't the Yankees resign Javier Vasquez?

Something's confusing me here, he had an awesome record, decent ERA below 4, and the only bad game he really had was way back in 04 in the ALCS. But were past that now, he was decent last year. He made it past the 5th inning in 19 of his 26 starts, and only got booed off the mound a couple times. WE NEED PITCHING!!!!
