What are the differences between an RN and LPN?

I am planning to become a nurse, but I'm trying to decide which course of study I'd like to take. However, I don't know whether I'd rather become an RN or an LPN. How similar are these two things? Pay differences? What sort of places can each work? What types of jobs do they do? Also, please let me know where you're getting your info. I'd prefer to hear from people who are either an RN or an LPN. Thanks!
