Ur thoughts on marriage?

my man told me several months ago, while our relationship was still new, that he never wants to get married again... we are both out of very bad divorces and he now says that why should we have to own each other? it tookl quite a it of time, but ultimately, i decided that i loved him so much that it didn't matter... either way, i want to be with him... and have a life and babies and everything else together.. and then i asked him over christmas, if we never plan to get married, how do we know when we cross that line between dating and being together forever, and he said, as far as he was concerned, we were already there... and he is extremely devoted, as am i... ui wanna know what everyone else thinks of the idea of not getting married, if you've been there, done that?
